Waimairi Beach Golf Club in Christchurch's Parklands is a superb 18‑hole links‑style course, playing to par 72 over about 5,680 yards. It rewards accurate, strategic play: gently undulating fairways, dune-style bunkers, wetlands, and fast greens create a fun, thoughtful golfing experience that shifts from risk/reward to finesse from hole to hole.
Originally planted with pine trees in the 1960s to aid student forestry projects, much of the pines were removed between 2007–2012. Significant earthquake damage in 2010–11 prompted a bold redesign by Kura Design Ltd, transforming holes with sandy soils into a modern links layout featuring open vistas, waste areas, and strategic bunkering. The rebuilt course reopened in 2013 and thrives today as a versatile test that suits a broad range of golfers.
The club environment is friendly and inclusive. Since 2014, a central clubhouse has offered café-bar service, function space, and a fully-stocked pro shop. The adjacent driving range and two practice greens support both beginners and experienced players.
