Martinborough Golf Club is a scenic and welcoming 18-hole, par‑72 parkland course situated in the heart of New Zealand’s renowned wine region. Stretching approximately 5,546 metres, the course is largely flat to gently undulating, making it easy walking while still offering subtle challenges. The layout features mature oak-lined fairways, strategic bunkering, and some smaller greens that demand precision. Standout holes include the narrow, road-side 3rd (“Boomerang”) and the tricky par-3 12th (“Hinakura”), both known for catching out errant shots that end up in nearby vineyards.
The club is steeped in history—it was established over 100 years ago on a former horse-racing track—yet retains a friendly, down-to-earth atmosphere. Visitors are warmly welcomed with flexible tee times, and green fees are modest, with rates for 18 and 9 holes. The modern clubhouse, recently upgraded, boasts lovely outdoor dining with vineyard views, a licensed bar, and cart and club hire, plus a full calendar of weekly competitions and social events that invite everyone to join in a round.
One of the club's most striking features, however, is its setting amid sprawling vineyards. After your round, it’s easy to wander into Martinborough’s charming town square, explore boutique wineries by foot or bike, and soak up the laid-back country vibe. The area is also a gateway to regional highlights like Cape Palliser’s historic lighthouse and the dramatic Putangirua Pinnacles—perfect for a post-golf excursion.
